City of Weyburn – Credit Union Spark Centre, Weyburn, SK.

The new Credit Union Spark Centre building was designed to include an indoor playground which the City labels as “soft play” to keep kids as safe as possible. This new play place for local and visiting children will be a major attraction when the recreation and cultural centre opens next month.

The MNP Centre will have a gigantic indoor playground that features multiple levels of tunnels, obstacles, climbing walls, slides and other features while following safe design standards to achieve inclusive play for children two to 12 years of age.

“It stands 19 feet high and has a footprint of roughly 28 by 45 feet with the capacity rating to accommodate up to 220 kids at any given time,” stated Andrew Crowe, Director of Leisure Services for the City of Weyburn.

This indoor safe space for children to let loose will offer four different levels of fun playground equipment, three 15 foot climbing walls, Accessibility & ADA compliance, Low maintenance and high durability, vandal-resistant tuff skin padding and netting, and regular cleaning. Since the safety of the children is the main priority of this facility the City has made sure to have the structure and all of its components ASTM, CSA & CPSC Certified.

The indoor playground project was awarded to Orca Coast Playgrounds Inc. of Port Coquitlam BC.
